Agora Fellows
Agora's Fellows Program represents an extraordinary opportunity for professionals to work closely with senior management in Central America. The Fellows program is Agora's signature program to bring management and finance talent to Central America to work directly with small businesses. Fellows often work to design and execute new initiatives related to the role of finance and entrepreneurship in development. The fellowship is highly competitive, entrepreneurial, and rewarding.
Program Overview
- Agora Fellows are entrepreneurial minded individuals with a taste for adventure and new challenges who have professional experience in management, finance, consulting, media, or in launching a new enterprise. Fellows are passionate about using their business skills to help small businesses succeed in very difficult environments.
- Fellows commit to 9-12 months working in Managua, Nicaragua and soon San Salvador, El Salvador.
- Fellows receive lodging with housekeeping, travel reimbursement and a stipend of $500 a month (nearly three times Nicaragua's per capital GDP).
- Fellows typically work on one or two major projects. Projects have spanned from helping companies prepare to pitch to investors to creating a new prize to recognize socially responsible small business leaders.
- Agora is currently looking for Fellows to help lead its social impact monitoring and evaluation efforts. Other projects Fellows may engage in include expansion, deepening the Agora entrepreneur community in the region, assisting with the Spring Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs Conference, and providing direct consulting to Agora supported businesses.
- The Fellows program represents a unique opportunity to take ideas and theories about entrepreneurship and development and put them into practice, while also learning about a powerful new entrepreneur-focused model of development.
